HISTORY AND STRATEGIC PLANNING

From LJ-MMPI to LENSI

LEADERSHIP: Jurnal Mahasiswa Manajemen Pendidikan Islam (LJ-MMPI) has been published since 2019 by the Islamic Education Management Study Program of STAIMA AL-HIKAM MALANG. The journal's first Editor-in-Chief was Zaedun Na'im, followed by Nury Firdausia, and in 2024, Rahmatullah took over the role.

The name LEADERSHIP or LJ-MMPI was chosen based on the results of deliberations and reflects the journal's initial objective—to focus more on Human Resources (HR) and Leadership compared to its predecessor, the STAIMA AL-HIKAM MALANG Evaluation Journal, which emphasized the management and quality of Islamic education.

In 2022, LEADERSHIP: Jurnal Mahasiswa Manajemen Pendidikan Islam achieved a SINTA accreditation score of 5 through Decree Number: 204/E/KPT/2022. This accreditation applies retroactively from Volume 1, Number 2 of 2020 to Volume 6, Number 1 of 2025, positioning the journal within the score range of 40 ≤ n < 50.

In 2023, the journal began preparing for re-accreditation by initiating international collaborations and national dissemination efforts. These efforts bore fruit in 2024, with the official introduction of the abbreviation LENSI and the journal's selection as a recipient of LITAPDIMAS funding from the Indonesian Ministry of Religion. LENSI competed nationally alongside other journals to secure this recognition.

As part of the assistance program, LENSI successfully hosted a workshop aimed at enhancing the skills of writers, editors, and reviewers, as well as improving journal management. The event attracted participants and presenters from both domestic and international circles, including representatives from Jordan, Russia, the United States, India, and other countries.

Strategic Planning for the Future

LENSI has outlined several strategic goals to achieve in the coming years, including:

  1. Achieving SINTA Level 1 Accreditation (85 ≤ n ≤ 100): By 2024–2025, LENSI aims to meet the criteria and standards required for SINTA 1 or SINTA 2 re-accreditation.
  2. Securing Scopus Indexing (No-Q): By 2025–2028, LENSI plans to fulfill the criteria necessary for Scopus indexing without a specific quartile (No-Q).
  3. Advancing Scopus Quartile Rankings:
    • Q4 in 2028–2031
    • Q3 in 2031–2033
    • Q2 in 2033–2036
    • Q1 in 2036–2039

By achieving these strategic milestones, LENSI aspires to become a national and international reference journal in the field of Islamic Educational Leadership (IEL), realizing its vision of LENSI 39 or IEL-1.
