Abstract

Nowadays, there are still many shortcomings in the world of education, especially in the ability of teachers to develop learning methods, which affects students’ low critical thinking skills. The method to develop is the experimental method in science learning. The purpose of the research is to describe the planning the implementation of the experimental method, describe the implementation of the experimental method, and describe the development of students’ critical thinking after using the experimental method. The researcher uses descriptive field research with a qualitative approach. The location is Miftahul Ulum Islamic Elementary School Baturetno Singosari Malang. The subjects included the Head of School, IVA class teachers, and IVA class students. Data collection techniques use observation, interviews, and documentation. After collecting data, the researcher then condenses data, presents data, drawing conclusions. Testing the validity of the data uses extended observations and triangulation. The results are planning the implementation of the experimental are implemented by the teacher preparing a complete Learning Implementation Plan covering learning objectives, learning main materials, learning resources and media, and learning methods. In addition, the teacher pays attention to the facilities and preparation of the evaluation. Implementation of the experimental method is the teacher uses the Learning Implementation Plan as a reference during learning activities, starting with preliminary activities, core, and closing. There are steps of the experimental method they are the preparation stage, implementation, and follow-up. The development of students’ critical thinking after using the experimental method is good and increasing. The results of the assessment according to the critical thinking indicator showed an average score of 92 with a predicate A, it means that all groups in very critical category.
