Abstract

The Adiwiyata program has a strategic role in increasing awareness of the environment which is currently experiencing a decline. This is of course supported by the contribution of the teacher's role through the Adiwiyata Program in optimizing the character of caring for the environment that has been formed by the school. The purpose of this study is to examine the role of teachers through the adiwiyata program in optimizing the character of caring for the environment. This research is a qualitative research with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques in this study were interviews, observation and documentation. The analysis technique in this study is an interactive analysis consisting of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, drawing conclusions. The results of the study highlight that first, the role of the teacher through the adiwiyata program in optimizing the character of caring for the environment at MI Miftahul Ulum, Batu City, is at a fairly good level of concern for the environment. Second, the implementation of the teacher's role through the adiwiyata program in optimizing the character of caring for the environment at MI Miftahul Ulum, Batu City, is at a fairly good level. Third, the obstacles to the teacher's role through the adiwiyata program in optimizing the character of caring for the environment at MI Miftahul Ulum, Batu City, are the lack of school infrastructure. Therefore, the role of the teacher through the adiwiyata program in developing the character of caring for the environment is quite good. The implications of this research are that the character of caring for the environment can be optimized with the role of the teacher in working on the Adiwiyata program.
